My story is " Felix on the move". It is about a delighted cat called Felix. One day, when the furniture disappeared from his house, he began to wonder what could be happening.

I have chosen this story as I think it can be helpful for children so they understand why they move to a different house. The principal idea of the story is to give the kids reasons to be happy in the new house, like Felix the cat did.

Last week , I had a chance to read this book to a little boy in the same situation as Felix. The story really helped her to understand why she was moving to a new house. And the best of all, she didn't worry about the furniture because her family were in the house with her,

Opinion books

After spent time thinking the best option, my conclusion is that there are lots of good books to pick, but I decided choose those three because they are interesting for teaching to the children and they are  also funny  and they allow them to have a great time while they are reading them.
The three books selected are:

 -    “ The day the crayons quit”

This book written by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers tells us the untypical story of a full set of crayons who decided to disappear because they are tired of doing always the same jobs.
I picked this book because I find quite easy to practice with it all the colours. Although the grammar is a little bit complicate for 3-4 years old children, it will be fantastic for a 5-6 years old class.
One of the principal ideas from this lovely book is “be original”, try to do different things, improve your imagination and be creative. If the sky is usually blue, you don’t have to paint it blue, because sometimes can be orange or even purple. That´s why I`ve choose this book, to encourage children to be creative and original and work these ideas with them.

-“The Selfish crocodile” by Faustin Charles and Michael Terry.

This story is about a huge crocodile living in the forest that doesn’t let anyone enjoys the river, all the animals are afraid of him.  But one day the crocodile feels something is going wrong in his mouth, and of course any animal help him. But, suddenly, a little mouse jumps into his big mouth and get off an enormous bad tooth. The crocodile is so grateful for it, and they become the best friends.
I really like this story; it tells how selfish people need help in some moments of their lives. So the way to work with this book is easy, just explain to the children that they have to be generous and nice with everybody, and don’t judge anyone because they never know when they would need a hand from other person.
To reinforce the principal idea, could be interesting if the teacher prepares some games in relation with the ideas of take care of the people,  making easy to the children to keep the idea on mind.

-“Monkey Puzzle” by Julia Donaldson

In one of my book selections cannot be missed one from the writer Julia Donaldson. In this case I’ve choose Monkey Puzzle.
This story, tell us about a little monkey who gets lost from his mum. With the help of a friendly butterfly, the little monkey looks for her in the jungle. Together they ask all the animals, until they finally find mum’s monkey.
Mostly of the books from Julia Donaldson have a particular thing, the rhyme, all the phrases are connected between them. That´s is absolutely impressive because the children can learn phonetics easily, and practise the proper pronunciation with the teacher.
This book can also be so handy for reviewing all the animals and they appearance. One way to work with is through phonetics and sounds as I said before and some culture about animals.

Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl

I've been picked "The Three Little Pigs" by Roald Dahl.

The Three Little Pigs
by Roald Dahl

The animal I really dig
Above all others is the pig.
Pigs are noble. Pigs are clever,
Pigs are courteous. However,
Now and then, to break this rule,
One meets a pig who is a fool.
What, for example, would you say
If strolling through the woods one day,
Right there in front of you, you saw
A pig who'd built his house of STRAW?
The Wolf who saw it licked his lips,
And said, 'That pig has had his chips.'

'Little pig, little pig, let me come in!'
'No, no, by the hairs on my chinny-chin-chin!'
'Then I'll huff and I'll puff
'And I'll blow your house in!'

The little pig began to pray,
But Wolfie blew his house away.
He shouted, 'Bacon, pork and ham!
'Oh, what a lucky Wolf I am!'
And though he ate the pig quite fast,
He carefully kept the tail till last.
Wolf wandered on, a trifle bloated.
Surprise, surprise, for soon he noted
Another little house for pigs,
And this one had been built of TWIGS!

'Little pig, little pig, let me come in!'
'No, no, by the hairs on mychinny-chin-chin!'
'Then I'll huff and I'll puff
'And I'll blow your house in!'

The Wolf said, 'Okay, here we go!'
He then began to blow and blow.
The little pig began to squeal.
He cried, 'Oh Wolf, you've had one meal!
'Why can't we talk and make a deal?'
The Wolf replied, 'Not on your nelly!'
And soon the pig was in his belly.
'Two juicy little pigs!' Wolf cried,
'But still I am not satisfied!
'I know full well my Tummy's bulging,
'But oh, how I adore indulging.'
So creeping quietly as a mouse,
The Wolf approached another house,
A house which also had inside
A little piggy trying to hide.
But this one, Piggy Number Three,
Was bright and brainy as could be.
No straw for him, no twigs or sticks.
This pig had built his house of BRICKS.
'You'll not get me!' the Piggy cried.
'I'll blow you down!' the Wolf replied.
'You'll need,' Pig said, 'a lot of puff,
'And I don't think you've got enough.'
Wolf huffed and puffed and blew and blew.
The house stayed up as good as new.
'If I can't blow it down,' Wolf said,
'I'll have to blow it up instead.
'I'll come back in the dead of night
'And blow it up with dynamite!'
Pig cried, 'You brute! I might have known!'
Then, picking up the telephone,
He dialled as quickly as he could
The number of Red Riding Hood.
'Hello,' she said. 'Who's speaking? Who?
'Oh, hello Piggy, how d'you do?'
Pig cried, 'I need your help, Miss Hood!
'Oh help me, please! D'you think you could?'
'I'll try, of course,' Miss Hood replied.
'What's on your mind?' ... 'A Wolf!' Pig cried.
'I know you've dealt with wolves before,
'And now I've got one at my door!'
'My darling Pig,' she said, 'my sweet,
'That's something really up my street.
'I've just begun to wash my hair.
'But when it's dry, I'll be right there.'
A short while later, through the wood,
Came striding brave Miss Riding Hood.
The Wolf stood there, his eyes ablaze
And yellowish, like mayonnaise.
His teeth were sharp, his gums were raw,
And spit was dripping from his jaw.
Once more the maiden's eyelid flickers.
She draws the pistol from her knickers.
Once more, she hits the vital spot,
And kills him with a single shot.
Pig, peeping through the window, stood
And yelled, 'Well done, Miss Riding Hood!'

Ah, Piglet, you must never trust
Young ladies from the upper crust.
For now, Miss Riding Hood, one notes,
Not only has two wolf-skin coats,
But when she goes from place to place,
She has a PIGSKIN TRAVELLING CAS

Here we can see  a curious and original version of The three little pigs and the big bad wolf. In this poem, the rhymes and the funny combination of words can be seeing since the beginning until the end. This kind of structure could be an interesting way to work with children, because the sounds catch their attention while reading the book.
But from my point of view, this book wouldn't be good enough for children under 3 years old, because there is a character which might be scary for them , the wolf , so in my personal opinion the book could be perfect for working  in a  over 3 years old class.

This fairy give us many tips to work with. After it has been read in a proper circle, where all the kids can listen perfectly, the teacher can do some activities to continue enjoying the poem.
I’m talking about activities in which the kids think about another end , for example where the wolf wasn’t bad and he helps the pigs to build a really strong house for the winter. Also, the children could do some art activities, like draws about the wolf or even the pig's houses.

The only thing is, the teacher needs to work in a good way to motivate all the children, because grand part of the success of an activity or project in the school is teacher´s responsibility , that means that If the teacher works hard enough to show the books with imagination and happiness, it has a 90% of probabilities of being successful.
